After pressure from Indigenous groups and thousands and thousands of LCV members — the Biden-Harris administration restored protections to three national monuments, including Bears Ears, a land sacred to five tribes full of cultural and historic significance. However, we need more protections and designating places with significant cultural, ecological and historic resources as national monuments would preserve ecological resources, strengthen our outdoor recreation economy, and combat the impacts of climate change.
